Delta Airlines

International Baggage Allowances

  • 2 Checked Bags: Maximum 50 lbs (22.5 kg) & 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) per piece
  • Generally baggage must be checked in at least 30 minutes prior to departure, consult Airport Check-In Requirements for Baggage for specific details for your airport of departure

Carry On Baggage

  • Weighs less than 40 pounds (18 kg)
  • Does not exceed 45 inches when you total length plus width plus height
  • Fits easily into our SizeWise® unit (approximately 22"x14"x9")
  • Fits in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front of you
  • One carry on bag plus one personal item:
    • Allowable Personal Item in Addition to One Carry-On:
      Male or female purse, briefcase, laptop/computer, camera case, diaper bag, an item of a similar size or smaller, size to those listed above, such as Personal Electronic Devices
  • Additional Allowances to carry on in addition to above:
    • Food items for immediate consumption
    • Assistive devices such as wheelchairs or crutches, provided passenger is dependent on them
    • One box or bag of duty free merchandise
    • Coat jacket
    • Umbrella
    • One item of reading material

Baggage Allowance Sports Equipment

Golf Equipment- One item of golf equipment is accepted as part of your free baggage allowance
One item containing not more than:
  • 14 golf clubs
  • 12 golf balls
  • One pair of golf shoes
Dive Equipment- One dive bag containing scuba equipment, may be accepted as part of your free baggage allowance

Windsurf Board- One item of windsurfing equipment is accepted as baggage for a $100 fee. Due to size limitations, windsurfing equipment will not be accepted on Delta Connection® carriers or MD-80 aircraft

International Baggage Allowances

  • 2 Checked Bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) & 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) per piece

Allowable Personal Item(s) in Addition to One Carry-On:

  • One personal item: male or female purse, briefcase, laptop/computer, camera case, small backpack, tote or shoulder bag not exceeding 36 linear inches (total length + width + height)

Additional Allowances:

  • Outer garments such as coats/wraps/hats
  • Approved safety seat for lap or ticketed child
  • Umbrella stroller for lap or ticketed child
  • Diaper bag for lap or ticketed child
  • Book or newspaper
  • Bistro sized or smaller bag of food that is consumable
  • Assistive devices for passengers such as wheelchairs, walkers & CPAP machines
  • Therapeutic oxygen provided by the airline

Baggage Allowance Sports Equipment

Golf Equipment- One golf bag in lieu of one bag 62 inch bag, maximum 70 pounds
One item containing not more than:
  • Golf clubs
  • Golf balls
  • Golf shoes
Dive Equipment- 1 scuba tank, scuba regulator, tank haaircraft size & load conditions. Up to 3 pieces count as one piece for excess baggage charges. If this item is in excess of the number of pieces allowed in the free baggage allowance, excess baggage charges apply in addition to the $80 special items fee.

International Baggage Allowances

  • 2 Checked Bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) & 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) per piece
  • Baggage must be checked at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure

Carry On Baggage

  • Weighs less than 40 pounds (18 kg)
  • Does not exceed maximum combined linear measurement (L + W + H) of the carry-on bag is 51 inches (130 cm)
  • One carry on bag plus one personal item:
    • Allowable Personal Item in Addition to One Carry-On:
      Briefcase, purse, day planner, small laptop computer, camera case, compact disk player or similar sized personal entertainment item

Additional Allowances:

  • Personal aid devices such as wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, prosthetic devices and walking sticks, provided passenger is dependent on them
  • One infant article such as a collapsible stroller, a diaper bag or a government approved child seat

Baggage Allowance Sports Equipment

Golf Equipment- one item per customer in lieu of one piece of free baggage
An item of golf equipment consists of:
  • 1 golf bag containing not more than 14 golf clubs
  • 12 golf balls
  • 1 pair golf shoes
Dive Equipment- one dive bag containing equipment used in the scuba-diving sport as part of the free baggage
An item of SCUBA equipment consists of:
  • One empty SCUBA tank, up to 3 rebreather tanks OR
  • One dive bag containing equipment used in the scuba-diving sport
Windsurf Board- One piece of windsurfing equipment not exceeding 100 pounds per ticketed customer as checked baggage. Windsurfing equipment is not a part of the free baggage allowance. Windsurfing equipment must be padded and enclosed in a suitable package sufficient to protect from scratches or dents or other damage during normal handling.
An item of windsurfing equipment consists of:
  • 1 windsurfing board not to exceed 115 inches in length
  • 1 boom
  • 1 mast
  • 1 sail
  • necessary hardware
Kiteboard- One kiteboard or one bag containing equipment used in kiteboarding as checked baggage. The board must be well padded or the entire board must be encased in a suitable container to avoid scratching. Kiteboards, or kiteboard bags or over 115 inches (292 cm) in length not be accepted as checked baggage. Kiteboards will be transported subject to load capacities of the aircraft on any itinerary involving a flight operated by subsidiaries. Kiteboards are not allowed during excess baggage embargo periods when no excess baggage is allowed.

  • Extra Pieces: Over your two checked pieces
  • Oversize: Over 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height)
  • Overweight: Over 50 lbs (32 kg) and not exceeding 100 lbs (45 kg)

US Air

International Baggage Allowances

  • 2 Checked Bags: Cannot exceed a weight of 50 pounds & dimensions of 62 inches, in overall length, width & height
  • Baggage must not weigh more than 50 lbs pounds &/or baggage that measures in combined dimensions exceeding 115 inches
  • Special items such as surfboards, bicycles, scuba equipment, etc. are not included in the customer's free baggage allowance and are subject to an extra charge

Carry On Baggage

  • Does not exceed maximum combined linear measurement (L + W + H) of the carry-on bag is 51 inches (130 cm)
  • One carry on bag plus one personal item:
    • Allowable Personal Item in Addition to One Carry-On:
      One purse, briefcase, laptop, small backpack, camera bags, small daypacks, infant bags, diaper bag or camera case- maximum overall dimensions 36 inches

Additional International Restrictions:

Charges will apply for:
  • Extra Pieces: Over your two checked pieces
  • Oversize: Over 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height)
  • Overweight: Over 50 lbs (32 kg) and not exceeding 100 lbs (45 kg)
